Chico State's ETS History

In 1990, the Chico State ETS program began serving students in Butte, Colusa, Glenn, Sutter, Tehama and Yuba counties. ETS now serves 1,350 students annually.

TRiO History

ETS is one of eight TRiO programs that were authorized by the Economic Opportunity Act of 1964 in response to President Lyndon Johnson's War on Poverty. Over 1,200 colleges, universities, community colleges and agencies now offer TRiO programs in America. There are 463 ETS programs in the United States serving more than 359,740 students. Federal TRiO programs provide outreach and support programs to help low-income, first generation junior high and high school students, progress through the academic pipeline from the middle school to post-baccalaureate programs.
