I am a fourth year psychology student and this is my first semester as a UMatter intern! Although I haven’t fully decided which particular program I am interested in, I do know I will be going to grad school in the near future. I’m interested in working with teens/young adults in a counselling setting. I have always been passionate about psychology and mental health which is one of the many reasons why I decided to join UMatter! I have had positive experiences going to therapy myself and I aim to one day be able to make a positive impact in somebody else’s life through therapy or counseling. Being an intern for UMatter has given me the ability to collaborate with people who are passionate about mental health and who are committed to normalizing the stigmas around mental health. Although we are not on campus this semester, as an intern we are still able to interact with other students and reach out to them to make sure that they know what resources they have available to them which is amazing! It is very easy to feel alone and isolated while attending college virtually so I really love being able to connect with other students to let them know they are not alone.
