Spring 2020, the Student Veteran Organization (SVO) in partnership with Chico State Foundation and University Advancement Office created an endowment to fund a scholarship in recognition of student veterans who continue to embody the principle of selfless service within their campus and community. The idea of continued service to others after military service was a core concept in its creation. The endowment is the SVO's way of ensuring there will be a permanent veteran scholarship available to student veterans in perpetuity without the need for annual fundraising ensuring its continued availability for the foreseeable future.
To make the scholarship as widely accessible among student veterans as possible, it will be awarded as part of the standard Wildcat Sync Scholarship Application.
An initial $1500 scholarship will be awarded as part of the Fall 2021 academic year and for every additional $25,000 donated into the endowment another $1500 scholarship will be able to be awarded to a student veteran.
