Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs

Updates to Academic Affairs Leadership Teams

August 22, 2024
Dr. Leslie Cornick, Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs

Greetings Colleagues,

In the spirit of doing better with less, I’m writing to provide an update on Academic Affairs leadership teams. Over the past few months, we’ve had conversations across AA leadership to identify and refine the best structure for ensuring consultation and collaboration between the provost, deans, associate deans, department chairs, and the academic senate chair, as well as opportunities to engage across campus.

To that end, please see below an updated summary of AA leadership team membership and meeting frequency.

Provost’s Core Team: Meets weekly, comprised of the executive assistant to the provost, vice provost for Faculty Affairs and Success, vice provost for Undergraduate Education and Academic Success, and executive director of Budget and Academic Resources.

Provost’s Advisory Council (PAC): Meets monthly, comprised of Core Team, college deans, and leads for the Meriam Library, International Education and Global Engagement, Graduate Studies, and Professional & Continuing Education.

PAC+: Meets monthly (alternating with PAC), comprised of PAC and associate deans.

Academic Affairs Budget Council (A2B): Meets monthly, comprised of Core Team, one college dean, one support unit dean, one associate dean, Chairs Council chair, and Academic Senate chair.

I also meet regularly one-on-one with the Academic Senate chair and participate on the AS Executive Council and the Academic Senate. I will also meet regularly with Chairs Council and Lecturers Council. We will continue regular faculty and staff listening sessions at least once a semester, weekly Provost’s Office Hours (Wed afternoons at 11:00 in Kendall 106), and twice a semester lunches with Leslie. Locations will alternate periodically so please look for invitations to these throughout the semester.

We will also be initiating an Academic Affairs quarterly newsletter. Look for the first edition before the fall break.
