Division Org Chart (PDF)Terence Lau Appointed to Dean Role at Syracuse University
June 11, 2024
Dr. Leslie Cornick, Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs
I write today to share the bittersweet news that Terence Lau has accepted the role of dean of the College of Law at Syracuse University, his alma mater, effective August 5. Since his hiring at Chico State in 2019, Terence has been a deeply valued and influential contributor at both the college and campuswide level. For more than four years, his leadership as dean of the College of Business proved invaluable, as he oversaw its successful reaccreditation, led the launch of new online MBA and BSBA programs, and helped secure two significant gifts for the college. He also stepped in to serve as interim provost and vice president for Academic Affairs, as well as interim dean of the College of Engineering, Computer Science, and Construction Management.
Though we were looking forward to Terence returning to the faculty in the College of Business this fall, we are incredibly happy for him for this next chapter. Before his tenure at Chico State, he served 16 years in the School of Business at the University of Dayton in Ohio. He also worked as in-house counsel in Ford Motor Company's legal department and spent a year as a Supreme Court Fellow assigned to the Supreme Court of the United States in Washington, DC. His expertise in both business and law will no doubt be an incredible asset to Syracuse.
Please join me in thanking Terence for his service to Chico State as we wish him all the best in his new endeavor.
