Meriam Library Leadership Update

June 5, 2024
Dr. Leslie Cornick, Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs

We had two finalists who had campus visits earlier this month. After thoroughly reviewing the campus feedback, input from the search committee, the candidates' submitted materials, and my conversations with both individuals, I've decided to close the search without a hire. While this decision may be unexpected, it was not made lightly. We have significant work ahead in the coming months and years as we evaluate how the library and other units within Academic Affairs are supported. I'm deeply grateful for the work of the search committee and for the participation from the campus community.

I also have an important update in our current library leadership. Our current interim dean, Jodi Shepherd, will be stepping down from the interim position effective June 27, 2024, and will be returning to library faculty in the fall. We are deeply grateful for Jodi's dedication and leadership during this period of transition. Over the past eight months as interim dean, Jodi has made significant contributions to our library, including overseeing the NACUBO Report assessing the budget model for the library, putting in place an MOU for late-night study hours, contributing to the final report for the library 1st floor architectural redesign, opening the Innovation Lab on the library 2nd floor, beginning the Meriam Megaphone Newsletter, initiating the repainting of the 3rd floor, adding two study rooms on the 1st floor, and representing the library on campus and across the CSU.

Plans for future leadership of the library are currently being developed, and we will share the details with you once they are finalized. Our priority is to ensure that the library continues to serve the university community as a vibrant and accessible resource to students, faculty, and staff.
