Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs

Name Change for Faculty Affairs

January 24, 2018
Debra S. Larson, Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs

After discussions with various stakeholders across campus, a recommendation was made to retitle the Office of Faculty Affairs to the Office of Academic Personnel due to the ambiguity of the current title.

The mission of the Office of Academic Personnel will continue to focus on facilitating the career success and academic advancement of the faculty through the application of faculty personnel policies and procedures while promoting an environment where we recruit and retain diverse faculty.

The new title better aligns with the office functions, which include serving as a campus resource for:  processing the recruitment, appointment, retention, advancement and leave requests of an engaged and diverse faculty (unit 3); processing the appointments for teaching associates, graduate assistants, and instructional student assistants (unit 11); advising the campus on interpretation and proper implementation of Collective Bargaining Unit terms, policies and tech letters for unit 3 faculty and unit 11 student employees; investigating and making recommendations regarding faculty and academic student employees’ labor and personnel matters and supporting the career development and professional fulfillment of faculty.

The name change to Academic Personnel will be effective March 1, 2018.
