Faculty, chairs, directors, and deans are invited to nominate candidates for the 2017-2018 Glenn Kendall Public Service Award. Each year this prestigious award is given to an outstanding graduating senior with exemplary scholarship and public service to the University and community. This is a President’s award that is available to candidates from all fields of study and service who graduated in fall 2017 or will graduate in spring 2018.

Award

This year’s award carries a stipend of $600. The recipient must be an outstanding graduating senior whose record indicates promising public service after completing studies at the University. The award will be presented on Tuesday,April 10, 2018 at the University Awards Reception in the BMU Auditorium.

Selection Criteria

  • Outstanding graduating senior (graduated December 2017 or graduating May 2018)
  • Record of outstanding scholarship, including special studies, projects, and fieldwork in courses involving public service/service learning
  • Record of outstanding public service within the University and the community
  • Record of proven ability to work effectively with others, and
  • Evidence of traits indicating a dedication to the well-being of people 

Nomination Format / Submission

  • 5 x 11 paper, stapled, with no binders or folders

Nomination packet needs to include

  • A  letter of nomination on behalf of your candidate
  • The candidate’s résumé
  • Supporting letters and materials
