Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs

Dr. Judith Hennessey Retiring

February 5, 2018
Debra S. Larson, Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs

Dr. Judith Hennessey, dean of the College of Business, has announced that she will be stepping down at the end of February after 38 years in the California State University system. She will be transitioning to a role with The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), where she will assist universities around the globe in preparing for professional accreditation.

Hennessey was appointed dean of the College of Business in January 2014. She has strategically focused college efforts on providing exceptional programs for students, raising over $400,000 to improve current spaces and several million dollars for a new College of Business building, and successfully obtaining reaccreditation in January 2018.

We greatly appreciate her leadership, especially in gaining reaccreditation in the College of Business. For that, and much more, please join me in thanking Dr. Hennessey for her unquestionable dedication to Chico State and our students.

I will immediately be seeking feedback on a process for appointing an interim dean. I also hope to initiate a national search toward the end of February.
