Student Message from Provost Larson

Emailed on November 12, 2018

Dear Students,

Since the beginning of the Camp Fire incident on Thursday morning, campus leadership has been working hard to make timely decisions with your health and safety at the top of our minds and respond in accordance to the rapidly changing conditions. If you have not already done so, I urge you to complete the Wildcats Rise Needs survey so we can better understand how the recent fire has impacted you and provide assistance and support.

We are also considering the essential mission of the University, your education. I am communicating directly with your faculty to answer common questions and provide clarity on expectations during this time of class suspension. We are guided by the principles of consistency of policy application across all courses, equity for all students, and compassion to each other.

I encourage you to visit the FAQ page of the Wildcats Rise website, and click into the FAQ titled "I'm an instructor, what does this mean for classes and coursework?" This should answer many of your questions. We will continue to update the FAQ page over the next few days to answer additional questions as they arise.

We care for you, and are committed to providing you with an excellent education. Understanding that all of you have been impacted by this disaster, both directly and indirectly, we are striving to help guide you through this difficult and uncertain time.

Provost Debra Larson
