June 6, 2018
Daniel Grassian, Vice Provost for Academic Programs

With the completion of the on-campus search, it is my pleasure to announce that Dr. Sara Trechter has accepted the position of Interim Associate Vice President for International Education. She will step into her new role on August 20, 2018.

Dr. Trechter has been with Chico State since 1995 and has moved through the ranks from an Assistant to a full Professor of English.  She has also served as Associate Dean for Graduate, International & Interdisciplinary Studies and as the Initiatives Coordinator & Recruitment Plan Implementer for the Office of International Education.

“I believe Dr. Trechter earned this interim appointment because of her expressed enthusiasm to offer committed, tireless, and enthusiastic advocacy for the Office of International Education,” stated Dr. Charles Zartman.  “All who encounter her will find a dedicated educator who understands the details associated with serving Chico State’s international and study abroad students – a population so important to the past, present, and future of our campus and community.”

Please join me in congratulating Sara Trechter on her selection for this important leadership role at our University.

Many thanks to the search committee members: Karla Camacho, James Luyirika-Sewagudde, Jr., Seema Sehrawat, John Unruh, Charles Zartman, Chair, and Brad Zuniga (Butte College) for their time, care, and professionalism throughout the search process.
