After a successful national search last spring, we announced in July that Terence Lau would be joining Chico State as the new Dean of the College of Business. We are excited to learn that Lau is able to assume his role earlier than anticipated and will be on campus December 10.

Lau and his family are looking forward to becoming part of the Chico State family.

"We left our last home in Shanghai on November 8, the same day the Camp Fire erupted,” said Terence Lau, incoming Dean of the College of Business, “and we were in Chico for a short time a few days later. Since that time, I have watched with dismay the devastating impact of this terrible tragedy on our community, especially on those who have lost loved ones or their homes. At the same time, I have been amazed at the acts of heroism on that day, from ordinary citizens to first responders, and I have been gratified to see the generous outpouring of support for those affected. As we look towards 2019, I know that the dedicated faculty and staff at the College of Business will continue to put students first in their mission as we continue to build a world-class school of business to serve Northern California. I, along with my spouse Rebecca and daughter Emelia, are looking forward so very much to being part of this journey and this community."

At this time, I want to personally acknowledge and thank Kenneth Chapman for serving as Interim Dean since February 2018. Chapman has been instrumental in ensuring the College of Business remained focused on continuing its long tradition of providing high quality instruction and service to our students and community during this leadership transition. His guidance and experience during the recent disaster have been invaluable.

Please join me in welcoming Lau to our University and thanking Chapman for his ongoing service and leadership.
