The Budget proposed "an additional $125 million in General Fund for UC and $148 million in General Funds for CSU for 2016-17."  The CSU had requested $241.7 million in its Board of Trustees 2016-17 Support Budget to address mandatory costs, compensation pool increases, enrollment growth, student success initiatives and facilities and infrastructure needs.

On July 14, 2016, the CSU issues the 2016-17 Final Base Budget Allocations to the campuses.  The Total 2016-17 General Fund allocation to CSU, Chico is listed at $108,499,232 with an associated FTES target of 16,006 (15,197 Resident and 809 non-resident FTES).   On October 11, 2016, President Hutchinson and her Cabinet approved the 2016-2017 campus budget plan.  The plan calls for an allocation to the Division of Academic Affairs of $121,380,420; a $6,409,566 increase over 2015-16, of which $4,623,146 has been designated for mandated cost increases.  It is worth noting that for 2016-17 there remain unfunded compensation increases in the amount of $979,972.

The division of Academic Affairs chose to review its budget allocation mechanisms for 2016-17.  Allocation mechanism to be proposed are to minimize swings in resource allocation from year-to-year, be predictable, transparent, and allow the division to engage in longer-term planning.
