Adelante(opens in new window) is thrilled to announce the launch of our McNair Scholars Program! 

The Ronald E. McNair Post-Baccalaureate Achievement Program was established in 1986 by the U.S. Department of Education and named in honor of Challenger Space Shuttle Astronaut Dr. Ronald E. McNair. The McNair Scholars Program is dedicated to preparing first-generation, low-income, and underrepresented students for success in higher education. Our goal is to equip you with the skills, knowledge, and support you need to excel in Master's and PhD programs. Applications are being accepted on a rolling basis until program capacity is reached for the 2024-2025 AY cohort.

Who Can Apply?

  • Sophomores, Juniors, or Seniors in good academic standing

  • First-Generation and Low-Income OR

  • From an Underrepresented Student Group

  • US Citizen or Permanent Resident

Program Benefits:

  • $2800 Fellowship to engage in a Faculty-Mentored Research Experience

  • Scholars will receive individualized grad advising and counseling to deepen exploration, preparation, and commitment to advancing to graduate education.

  • Access to workshops and presentations tailored to support your research and graduate school goals and accomplishments

  • Writing support for graduate program applications, scholarship, and fellowship applications

  • Connection with campus resources to support academic and personal success, including increasing your sense of belonging and challenging imposter syndrome
