Chico State Portal
What is the Chico State Portal?
The Chico State Portal is an area where the students are able to access different accounts that requires Chico State authentication. For example, you can access your Student Center, where you can register for classes, view your grades, transcripts, your financial aid, etc. You can access your courses in Blackboard or Canvas. You can access job postings with Handshake where students can see jobs posted for the University or around the Chico area.
How to access the Chico State Portal
To access the Portal is pretty simple, all you have to go to portal.csuchico.edu or click on the link “PORTAL” at the top of any Chico State web page.
Once you are at the Portal page, you sign in on the top right corner. Enter your Chico State username and password as well as your Duo authentication. The portal page will then list the items that you can access in “portlets.”
Features in the Portal
My Chico State ID
This portlet displays your student ID number (required for registration and university financial transactions), as well as the Account Center (used to manage your account, reset your password, and manage your display name).
Blackboard Learn and Canvas
Blackboard Learn and Canvas are applications for online teaching, learning, community building, and knowledge sharing. They are the primary web applications that students will use throughout your education. Note: Blackboard will no longer exist at Chico state when fall 2023 begins. Canvas will be our only learning management system.
Zoom
This portlet will send you to your Zoom profile page, where you can adjust personal settings for joining or hosting meetings on your zoom account.
Wildcat Mail
This portlet links to your Gmail account associated with your student email address. You will receive important school relevant emails in this inbox, so keep this one linked as well- or better yet, bookmark it in your browser for easier access.
Student Center
This portlet links you to your Student Center, where you can view and manage your schedule, enrollment, academic progress, records, and finances. Check this one often for updates or possible holds on your account.
Other
Many Portlets can be added to your portal. For example, Office 365, Adobe and Handshake is a good idea to spend some time in the Customization menu to create a portal that best suits your needs as a student.
Customizing your Portal
You are able to customize the layout of your portlets in the portal through the “Customize” tab at the top of the page. Tutorials on how to customize your portal page including adding, moving, and removing tool links (Portlets), are linked below.
