Serving our diverse set of users
WCAG 2.1 AA: It's the law
CSU, Chico is committed to providing everyone in the campus community equal access to University programs, services, and activities. This includes making our websites, web apps, software, and digital content accessible to all users. If you own, manage, or contract with vendors to maintain digital spaces outside of the campus’s standard framework (Cascade web content management sites), you are responsible for their accessibility.
Your responsibility
Please help our institution make content that works for all people, regardless of their mental or physical abilities.
1. Comply with WCAG 2.1 AA
World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.1 AA)
2. Use inclusive language
Campus guidelines about biased language
3. Provide consistency
You must provide a consistent user experience across platforms by adhering to the campus Visual Identity Guide and framework recommendations within these Web Design Resources pages.
4. Scan your stuff
Do automated and manual scans of your digital properties prior to launch and regularly thereafter. Get help with scanning, remediation, and consultation by submitting a Web Accessibility ticket.
5. Allow users to report issues
Create an easy (and accessible!) way for users to contact you about issues or provide feedback. (Sample accommodation statements can be found in the University Communicators Guide.)
