When to use a Login Button

These are custom elements and Web Services must insert on sites. When a user clicks on a login button, the immediate result is either

  1. Ask for their campus credentials to continue, or
  2. Ask for username and password created within a vendor application

Do

  • stick to the approved text convention: "[System Name] Login"
  • keep text short, abbreviating long system names if necessary (ex., "CRA Login", not "Communication, Reporting & Analysis Login")

Don't

  • use a login button once the user is inside the protected environment
  • use a standard or flame button when a branded version is available
  • use login-style buttons for simple external links
