Michelle Harris

Nutrition Education Specialist

Michelle grew up on a ranch in Siskiyou County where she grew up with a background in agriculture. This has fueled her passion for helping others learn more about where their food comes from as well as to help them enjoy the benefits of fruits and veggies.

As a Registered Dietitian (RD) with a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree from California State University, Chico, Michele leads CHC’s efforts in far northern California. In addition to her community nutrition background, Michelle brings a varied depth of experience to CHC as a former clinical dietitian in both the hospital and long term care settings, and as a consulting dietitian providing menu analysis and kitchen inspections for correctional facilities and senior congregate meal sites.

At CHC, she is a Training Coordinator for the North Coast and Cascades Training and Resource Center, a nutrition educator with Siskiyou County Health Department, and provides medical nutrition therapy services to Quartz Valley Indian Reservation in Scott Valley. She is most proud of being able to promote healthy lifestyle changes in Siskiyou County, because she can make an impact in the community where she grew up.

At home, Michelle practices nutrition and the benefits of being active by doing outdoor activities with her children. She also has her own “Pick Your Own Berry” Patch in Siskiyou County.
