SOMETIMES THERE IS A BOY WHO WANTS TO LOVE THE GIRL BACK INTO ME

another boy tells the not-boy-or-girl
about the girl he wishes would love him
this time, or sometimes, there is a boy

who wants to love the girl back into me.
sometimes there is a boy who just loves
the not-girl of me while he waits for the girl

to come home. sometimes i tell a boy
he feels like “home,” and he brings up
redecorating. so i shave my hair

and drink.      i reverse-ghost through
every house, only visible in mirrors,
and drink.      i appear in the bowling

alley wearing someone else’s mouth
and drink.      i come home from work
and drink.      i like a boy      and drink.

every boy i like tells me again about
the girl he wants to come home to.
every boy i like tells me about a girl

he saw once, wearing my skin,
and thought her beautiful, and maybe
ghost-me floats out of his mouth,

or maybe the mirror breaks in its
lie, or maybe we both wake up, not-
drunk, and he doesn’t recognize me.
