The California State University, Chico Office of the Provost and the Council of Academic Deans invite students, faculty, staff and the community to the 2014 Spring Student Showcase.

Showcase events provide a unique opportunity to explore a wide range of research, artwork, design, music and theatrical performances representing the achievements and creativity of CSU, Chico students from across campus.

From freshmen to graduate students, the Spring Student Showcase events encompass works of students at all stages of their University careers. The First-Year Experience Town Hall Meeting April 22 will provide freshmen with a public arena to share research conducted throughout the year and discuss current policy issues with other students, faculty, administrators and community members. The College of Engineering, Computer Science and Construction Management will feature graduating seniors’ culminating projects at the Senior Capstone Expo May 6.

Additional highlights include the 13th Annual College of Behavioral & Social Sciences Student Research Symposium on April 23, featuring concurrent oral and poster presentations in areas such as geography and planning, social work, political science and anthropology; the April 30 College of Natural Sciences Poster Session and People's Choice Awards; and numerous choral and instrumental performances and art exhibits of print, ink and clay works by students from the College of Humanities and Fine Arts.

Belle Wei, CSU, Chico’s provost and vice president for Academic Affairs, has championed the development of the Spring Student Showcase. “This event will help us celebrate the diversity of talents taking root on our campus,” she said. “It’s a wonderful opportunity to recognize outstanding student achievement, spur interdisciplinary thinking, and promote the sorts of innovation for which Chico is increasingly well known.”

Most events are free and all are welcome. For a complete list of events, including times, locations, and descriptions, please visit the website at http://rce.csuchico.edu/showcase/spring-student-showcase.
