California State University, Chico’s largest student award event, the University Awards Reception, will be held Wednesday, April 18, 3-5 p.m., in the Bell Memorial Union Auditorium. The event is free and the public is invited to attend.

In its 18th year, the event honors student achievements in academics, leadership, athletic excellence and community service.

Among the special awards are the President’s Academic Excellence Award, given to the graduating senior with the highest grade point average, and the Glenn Kendall Public Service Award, recognizing a graduating senior with high scholastic standing and outstanding public service to the University and community.

Other awards also highlight students’ contributions to the campus and community, including the Outstanding Service to Student Government Award, the Chris Hilbert Outstanding Chico State Friend Award, the Outstanding CAVE Volunteer Award and the Outstanding Student Service Award established last year by the CSU, Chico Advisory Board.

Each of CSU, Chico’s colleges will honor an outstanding student, and the Bud Hanna Scholar Athlete Award and Richard Dahl Scholar Athlete Award will be given to the outstanding male and female student athlete, respectively.

Along with the student honors, an outstanding student organization advisor will be given an award, and an individual or campus organization will be honored with the Enhancement of Multicultural Understanding Award.

The University Awards Reception is sponsored by the Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs, the Student Activities Office and the Associated Students.
