Sixth Annual The Chico Experience Week Slated for Oct. 9-18

Nearly 50 special events, alumni reunions and community activities are planned during the sixth annual The Chico Experience Week, slated for Oct. 9-18. The event celebrating all things Chico is sponsored by California State University, Chico’s Alumni Association.

Kicking off the activities for the second year is a Young Alumni Mixer on Friday, Oct. 9, at B Street Public House in downtown Chico. A $5 admission fee includes a variety of appetizers. Other alumni events include the Chico Rugby Alumni Reunion Oct. 9-10; a Residence Life Alumni Reunion Luncheon Oct. 10; the Golden Grad Reunion Oct. 15-17 for alumni who graduated in or before 1965; and the Associated Students Alumni Reunion Oct. 18.

A record 1,700 students, parents and friends have registered for the Family Weekend Barbeque Saturday, Oct. 10, held on Yolo Lawn on campus from noon to 2 p.m. Tickets to the popular event are $12 each and may be ordered online or by calling the Office of Alumni and Parent Relations at 530-898-6472. Parking that day is free in campus lots.

The Chico Experience Week coincides with Greek Week, when CSU, Chico students in fraternities and sororities participate in service activities. Student-planned efforts include food and blood drives and a walk to raise funds for breast cancer research. More information on Greek Week activities can be found here.

“Chico is such a special place, and The Chico Experience Week provides numerous opportunities to celebrate the campus and community that we all cherish,” said Sue Anderson, assistant vice president for Alumni and Parent Relations.

Preferred partners include the Downtown Chico Business Association, Chico Chamber of Commerce, Chico Artoberfest, the Sierra Oro Farm Trail, House of Bamboo and Oxford Suites. Sponsors are Sierra Nevada Brewing Co., Liberty Mutual, Marsh Insurance, Courtyard Inn Marriott, Residence Inn Marriott and Wells Fargo.
