Master Planning Our Sustainable Campus
Concept Art of the West First Street Project showing Free Speech Plaza.
The West First Street improvement project will create a dynamic outdoor landscape. Students and campus visitors will meander, study, reflect, shop and be entertained along this 6 block pathway. Beginning downtown at Salem Street, it will provide a gateway for pedestrians and cyclists. It will link the historic campus quad with new structures to the west. Along the way landscaping, fountains, abundant seating, and public sculpture will enhance our sense of place.
As the “Main Street” of campus, this outdoor mall will add visual detail with street furniture, lighting, banners, and interpretive signage. Funding will be through donations and non-state sources.
Landmark fountain attracts groups.
Proposed Siskiyou replacement structure.
