English 415 produces the university’s literary magazine, Watershed Review. As a class, we read submissions of poetry and prose from all over the country. The selection process is both rigorous and exciting.
Before we read the work of others, students research literary magazines, learn about the history of literary editing, and then prepare their own writing for submission.
We round out the semester with some hands-on experience with printing techniques from the past, making broadsides, and visiting a local printmaking studio.
Students who take English 415 not only get tangible professional experience in the world of literary publishing, but have had the opportunity to travel to national conferences, take on lead editor positions, and work as paid employees.
Most of all, you become a part of the community of writers and editors on our campus and beyond. Join us!
