Sangmin Lee

Art Education

Sangmin Lee is Assistant Professor of Art Education at California State University, Chico. He received his B.Ed. and M.Ed. from Seoul National University of Education, and Ph.D. in Art and Visual Culture Education with Studio Art (Ceramics) minor from the University of Arizona.

Dr. Lee is an artist, researcher, and educator. As an artist, he held several ceramic exhibitions internationally. Recently, his ceramic artwork was selected as one of 100 hella cups in the international juried exhibition held at Oakland, California. As a researcher, he actively contributed to the academics in art education by publishing his research in the US and Korean journals, national and international conferences, as well as books. His research interests include art education in global perspectives, intercultural engagement, walking methodologies, art teacher preparation, and critical Asian art and visual culture pedagogy. He has worked as an elementary school teacher in Korea before pursuing his Ph.D. degree in the United States
