The North State History-Social Science Project, housed at California State University, Chico, is one of eight sites of the California History-Social Science Project located at universities around the state. The North State History-Social Science Project serves K-12 students, teachers, schools, and school districts throughout the northern Sacramento Valley and the inter-mountain region of northeastern California by
- encouraging the development of curriculum based on the California History-Social Science Content Standards;
- enhancing literacy through history and the social sciences;
- creating partnerships with schools and school districts, and furnishing them ongoing support;
- conducting annual summer institutes on the CSU Chico campus;
- offering relevant, practical, and state-of-the-art workshops for teachers;
- providing materials and strategies for the effective use of primary sources; and
- building a sense of community among teachers and university faculty.
