Internship Frequently Asked Questions

  • Q: How do I find an internship?
A: Refer to the internship spreadsheet (Google Sheet) for a list of internship types, requirements, and website links. Also contact the internship coordinator for your program. Please see the list of internship coordinators above.
  • Q: How do I start the internship application process?
A: Refer to the internship spreadsheet (Google Sheet) and then follow-up with the contact number or email address associated with your internship of interest. Introduce yourself, explain your interest in the organization (refer to personal experience, or future aspirations), and ask to set-up a meeting. Bring your resume to that meeting.

  • Q: Does my internship have to be in Butte County?
A: It depends. You may have an internship outside of Chico, as long as Chico State has a contract with the organization. Please be sure to verify this by emailing the internship coordinator for your program prior to agreeing to intern outside of Butte County. Please see the list of internship coordinators.(opens in new window)
  • Q: Can I have an internship not listed on the spreadsheet?
A: Maybe. Please check the internship spreadsheet first to see if any of the organizations listed interest you. If none of those organizations are of interest, please contact the internship coordinator for your program.
  • Q: What if I don’t finish my internship hours?
A: If you do not complete your internship hours, you will receive an incomplete for the course. This can affect financial aid, as well as Chico State’s ability to provide quality service to our community.
