August 18, 2023 – Welcome to the New Semester
Dear Campus Community,
Welcome to the start of a new semester! Since becoming your president on July 1, I’ve been eagerly waiting for classes to begin. Nothing quite captures the energy and potential of a university campus like a new school year, as students return with vibrancy and enthusiasm. As we look toward the year ahead, I want to be sure you and each student you encounter are aware of the many initiatives to keep our campus a safe place to learn and work.
- What to Do in an Emergency—Unfortunately, emergencies happen, but we have guidelines for you to be prepared before, during, and following a major emergency or disaster.
- Chico State Alerts—The emergency notification system can reach you via phone, text and email. Make sure your contacts are up to date.
- Report Concerning Behavior—A one-stop site to report a student or employee of concern or one in need of support; crimes or other behavioral incidents; or matters related to sexual harassment, sexual misconduct, sexual exploitation, dating violence, domestic violence, or stalking
- Campus Connection Shuttle—Free shuttle service as an alternative to walking on campus at night
- Blue Light Phones—40 phones around campus that automatically connect to University Police
- WellCat Services
- Safe Place – Confidential support for victims of violence
- Counseling—In-person and virtual counseling available for individuals and groups
- Health Center—An acute care clinicfor students
- Basic Needs—Support for food and housing insecurity
Best wishes for the start of a new semester and thank you for all you do to make Chico State the exceptional institution it is. Our next chapter is underway!
