Planning Activities

The self-study is the institution’s process of gathering data and reflecting on its current functioning and effectiveness under the WASC Standards. The Commission considers a candid self-study, with broad engagement of the institutional community, to provide the foundation for a high quality institutional report.

During Fall 2015 and Spring 2016, the Accreditation Planning Team (APT) implemented various activities to engage as many faculty, staff, students, alumni, and other key stakeholders to achieve the broadest input of data for its self-study.

Initial data gathering kicked off with units in each division completing a worksheet to gauge their status regarding key WASC Criteria. The packet they received included:

The second phase of data gathering consisted of divisional responses to the WASC Recommendations Progress Report. This worksheet is intended to be a brief summary of work occurring in each Division. The data from this worksheet and the EER worksheet will help the campus prepare our Institutional Report for reaffirmation of accreditation.

Upon completion of their initial review of this information, the APT submitted their Report.

The APT invited Richard Osborn, Vice President of WASC Senior College and University Commission (WASC liaison to CSU, Chico), to visit campus. View his February 12, 2016, workshop presentation slides (pdf).
