Jeanette Adame

Jeanette Adame has been selected as the 2019-2020 Western Association of Graduate Schools (WAGS) and ProQuest Distinguished Masters Thesis Award (Non-STEM) winner for her work titled "Citing Divine and Human Laws: Women of African Descent and the New Orleans Cabildo, 1769-1800." Jeanette will receive a $1000 prize and an invitation to attend the 62nd-annual WAGS conference(opens in new window) in Albuquerque and present her work. While a graduate student at Chico State, Jeanette worked with Drs. Magliari, Tinkler, and Madar, and conducted archival research in New Orleans with generous financial support from the Clarence McIntosh-William Hutchinson Graduate Fellowship Award.

CSU, Chico’s School of the Arts presented a semi-staged concert version of Leonard Bernstein’s comic operetta Candide for the Fall 2018 Opera Gala. Candide was played by Valdis Birznieks. He was recently accepted into the Berlin Opera Academy’s summer program.
