History Department

Zach Williams

My name is Zach Williams and I graduated with my BA in History in 2016 with a minor in Anthropology and a certificate in Public History.

After leaving Chico State, I began my graduate program in Museum Studies at the University of San Francisco. At USF, I curated multiple exhibits in our campus gallery and completed two internships. I spent the summer of 2017 at the Peabody Museum of Archaeology and Ethnology at Harvard University, and I returned to SF that fall for my last semester of grad school, and to serve as the Presidio Trust’s Heritage Department and Archaeology Lab Collections Intern. In March of 2018 I moved to Manhattan and worked as a Cultural Resource Management (CRM) Archaeologist. During my time in NYC my supervisor from the Peabody reached out to me regarding a job opening in the collections department, and in late November 2018, I made the move to Boston where I now serve as the Collections Technician here at Harvard's Peabody Museum

Throughout all of my work and school experiences, my professors, supervisors, and coworkers have continued to express how impressed they are with my work abilities, abilities I picked up and learned at Chico. The Public History certificate program was extremely influential in my decision to pursue museums and archaeology related work, and I thank the History Department's faculty and staff for their encouragement and support.
