The Italian Program works very closely with the North Valley Italian Community. Members of ISAC (the Italian Studies Advisory Council) come from the community at large and work closely with the faculty, students and administration of CSU, Chico to raise funds, organize and support cultural activities and the popular Spring and Autumn Festivals. A notable yearly feature of ISAC's activities is the pre-Opera gala reception in Trinity Hall in cooperation with the Department of Music and the Opera Workshop.

Members of the North Valley community are welcome to apply for membership and to attend ISAC's meetings and cultural functions. The Italian Program and ISAC offer two scholarships of $500.00 each every academic year. The late Dr. Maria Haynes was the founder of the Italian Program at CSU, Chico. The Maria S. Haynes Scholarships are awarded on the basis of overall academic excellence and enrollment in the study of Italian.

All things being equal, preference is given to students who are enrolled in the Italian Minor or Major.

Information is obtainable from the main office of the International Languages, Literatures and Cultures Department at Phone 530-898-5388.

Note: It is a university requirement that in order to be eligible for scholarships students must complete the CSU, Chico online scholarship application(opens in new window).
