The Art and Science of Regenerative Agriculture: Its Role in the Climate Crisis

Monday, Oct. 7, 2019, 1–2:30 p.m.

Bradley 2 classroom at The Social (Formerly called Craig Student Living), 1400 W 3rd St, Chico, CA 95928

Dr. Daley will address the need for a more regenerative form of agriculture based on the current state of our ecological systems, status of our existing food system, and the impact our current ag policies have had on human health. She will cover why cheap food is really not cheap when you consider the environmental and social implications.

Farming is so much more than food production, it's an art that has been lost in the pursuit of cheap food, and the need to please a constituency of convenience driven consumers. Our agricultural heritage is the backbone of our value system and the world economy. This heritage has been severely compromised by the existing socio-economic policies.

Solutions to these problems rest in transitioning to a more regenerative model of farming/ranching. Agriculture, when done regeneratively, can build a more resilient food supply, address world hunger, and provide a workable/feasible solution to carbon drawdown and the climate crisis.
