Green Dot Violence Prevention Strategy Overview - Dec. 12

Thursday, Dec. 12, 2019, 11 a.m.–noon
SUTR 276P

Please join us for an overview with faculty and staff members re their "Green Dot."

This training will introduce the basic elements of Green Dot, a program for the vital role campus employees play in establishing and reinforcing the culture within which students exist. Green Dot is designed to help faculty, staff, and administrators understand the expanded definition of “bystander,” and to help integrate key behaviors within their current job functions by establishing two norms: (1) power-based personal violence won’t be tolerated, and (2) everyone does their part to keep the campus free from violence and the fear of violence.

More information

As a comprehensive violence prevention strategy, Green Dot includes bystander trainings for all levels of campus, as well as messaging campaigns and action events. Its ultimate goal is to establish the two norms listed above.

Your support of the Green Dot message is essential to program success. We invite you to participate in a training opportunity that will equip you with the skills and tools to understand the Green Dot model, reinforce its message through your role(s) on campus, and practice strategies for intervening in potentially harmful situations related to sexual assault, dating/domestic violence, and stalking on campus. These issues impact our entire campus community, and each of us have a role in preventing sexual violence.
