36th Annual Student Research Competition Top Presenters

Congratulations to the winners of the CSUC 36th Annual Student Research Competition held March 2 and 3, 2022!

For our first ever 3-minute competition, 12 undergraduate and 10 graduate students were allowed one static slide and distilled their work into a 3-minute presentation via live Zoom. It was impressive to see how they encapsulated so much fascinating research in such a short amount of time. It was such a challenge to select just three session winners per category that the judges awarded a tie for first place in the graduate student competition, and created two honorable mention awards in the undergraduate competition.

For the traditional, 8-minute competition, 11 undergraduate and 21 graduate students submitted 5-page research descriptions and gave short presentations before a panel of judges and audience members via Zoom. Their work was judged on clarity of purpose, appropriateness of methodology, interpretation of results, clear articulation of the research, and ability to field questions.

Given the overall quality of all the students’ work, it was a challenge for the faculty judges to select the three top presenters in each session. The judges, other presenters, and audience members were impressed and inspired by the quality and rigor of the students' work.

We have listed all of the session winners below. In addition, listed below are the 10 delegates selected to compete in the CSU Statewide Research Competition hosted virtually by San Francisco State University, April 29-30, 2022.  Given that we had 32 excellent student presenters vying for a chance to be one of 10 student delegates, making the final selections was an extraordinarily difficult task.

Thanks to all of the students who participated and the faculty mentors who supported them. Again, our congratulations to these Top Presenters:
