Dr. Jeffrey Bell received his Ph.D. in Molecular Biology from USC and is a professor in the CSU Chico Biology department. His past research focused on the population biology of native animal species in Northern California, and the role of the MSX2 homeobox gene in the development of vertebrates. He is a co-author of the Biolabs online simulations and was co-editor and founder of the Merlot Biology Editorial Board. He was chair of the Biology Department for six years and is currenlty Assistant Dean for the College of Natural Sciences where he helps the College with scheduling, student success and budgeting. He currently serves on the Chico Graduation Initiative 2025 Team and is an Institutional Faculty Fellow working with Institutional Research on various data projects.
