Blackboard Vista Accessibility Checklist

This list specifically deals with features of the Blackboard Learning System Vista 4 and 8, and is applicable to CE 6 and 8.

The Course Menu

• displays only those tools used in the course
• is legible and has sufficiently contrasting text and background colors.

The Content Home Page

• may have a background color or image but it does not make text difficult to read
• has a header containing:
  • Course name, number and section
  • Instructor name and contact information
  • If there is a header image, it contains alternative text
• has a recognizable link to the course syllabus
• is organized so that relevant content is easiest to access
• has links which are descriptively and consistently name

Announcements

• contain alternative text for any images

Assessments

• are created with additional time for students who have an identified disability

Chat

• is not a required component of course participation because it is not usable by students who are visually impaired.

Learning Modules

• include a beginning page which is a text or HTML document describing the objectives of the learning module.

The Grade Book

• releases relevant grades to student in a coherent column order
