Making Materials Accessible

The digital content provided to students should be accessible to all students so to maximize students' success.

Start Here:Creating an accessible course syllabus.

Tutorials and Guides

Visit the TLP Accessibility Knowledge Base to find our step-by-step tutorials to create accessible documents in these formats:

  • DOC - Microsoft Word
  • PPT - Microsoft PowerPoint
  • XLS - Microsoft Excel
  • PDF - Adobe Acrobat

Scanning Printed Documents

Faculty provided content should be in a character-readable and editable format allowing assistive technology to read the material. TLP has scanners and optical character recognition (OCR) software to help convert content to an accessible format. The Technology and Learning Program lab has staff available to assist faculty with the use of these scanners and OCR software. For more information, call (530) 898-6167 or send us an email.

The campus Office of Accessible Technology is also here as your primary resource for building out accessible content.

TLP Workshops

Check our workshop offerings to see if we are offering something for you soon. If there is not an offering coming up soon, then contact us about options or consultations.

Consultations

You may freely schedule a consultation with us to help you assess your content, instructional design, or pedagological approach. TLP and our partners in the Accessibility Resource Center and OATS work to keep informed about the latest methods for making courses as accessible as possible.
