Description: In this webinar series, we will discuss cryptocurrencies. We will walk through the blockchain, the growing NFT (non-fungible token) industry, and explore Web3 and how it differs from Web2. Highlights include the different types of Blockchains (Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, Binance) and their use cases and how NFT's are being used in gaming, art, profile pictures, and collectibles.

Panelist: Matt Ober (Business, '07)

Matt Ober received his bachelor's degree in business administration with an option in finance and minors in international business and international relations from Chico State in 2007. As a student on campus he was a member of the fraternity Delta Chi, and the Inter-Fraternity Council (IFC). Ober is currently the managing director and chief data scientist at Third Point LLC. His focus is on leveraging data and technology to enhance the fundamental investment processes across equity, credit, and venture capital investments. Before joining Third Point, Ober spent more than five years at WorldQuant LLC where he was the head of data strategy. Prior to WorldQuant LLC, he worked at Bloomberg on the analytics team. Ober is a Chartered Alternative Investment Association (CAIA) holder.

Jaycob Arbogast completed his degree from Chico State in business administration with an option in finance and a minor in mathematics in 2015. Arbogast is currently the director of the Chico State Center for Excellence in Finance. As a student on campus, Arbogast was president of the Investors Club, and was on the Dean's Leadership Council.
