Mackay “Mac” Martin, General Manager of the Associated Students, oversaw the student bookstore, food services, athletics, drama, and team transportation. He assisted in student extracurricular activities, helped rebuild the Alumni Association, started the first food service, and was the first advisor of the Associated Students. He served as the Chico State Alumni Association treasurer for more than three decades and received the “Distinguished Alumni Service Award (2005).

He was an avid supporter of Wildcat athletics, helping launch the Athletic Hall of Fame Program. He served on this Committee many years and was inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame (1986) as an honorary member. He was Assistant Coach for men’s basketball when Art Acker was Head Coach.

Martin was Director of the Chico State Invitational Basketball Tournament originating in 1960 and later named the Mac Martin Invitational Basketball Tournament. The Mac Martin Student Leadership Endowment was established (2002) to develop student leaders. He was community oriented and volunteered for non-profit organizations such as the Salvation Army, March of Dimes, Sons in Retirement (SIR), and the Bidwell Mansion Association.
