Staff

Director of Admissions and Student Aids
1968-1978

Dr. Roger Anderson achieved new student enrollment goals over his ten years as Director of Admissions and Student Aids. He initiated admissions procedures to notify students within two weeks of their application, and he reduced financial aid applications 25% by requiring students to wait until admitted. He also implemented alternative admission programs: APPLE, Advanced Placement for Prior Learning Experience, for adults with extensive independent study; and ACE, Accelerated College Entrance, for high-achieving 13-16 year old students.

Dr. Anderson annually visited 63 Northeastern California high schools and 6 community colleges. He established IRIS, a toll-free telephone service. He also published INSIDER, the first quarterly admissions newsletter in the CSU, sent to all Northeastern California high schools and community colleges. Dr. Anderson served on ten WASC (Western Association of Schools and Colleges) school accreditation visits. He hired bright, energetic, creative, and student-oriented staff associates who made all of the above possible.

He was very active in the Chico community and was a YMCA board member, Boy Scouts parent troop chair, Airport Commission chair, and Redeemer Lutheran Church Sunday School Superintendent and congregational president.
