MSTI Scholarship Application

The California State University (CSU) is the state's largest producer of mathematics and science teachers. The CSU Mathematics and Science Teacher Initiative (MSTI) represents their commitment to increasing CSU annual production of credentialed teachers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields.

The objective of the Chico State MSTI program is to increase the total number of math and science students enrolling in undergraduate or post-baccalaureate teacher preparation programs.

Chico State MSTI and advisors help future math and science teachers through the subject matter preparation, credential program application process, financial aid information and opportunities for scholarships, and credential examination preparation resources. We encourage and support students in all majors and from diverse backgrounds to look into our program. Teaching needs everyone!

NEW Incoming freshman and transfer students for Fall are eligible for $1000-$2000 MSTI Recruitment Scholarships. Scholarships are awarded at the end of each spring for the following academic year.

Currently enrolled CSU, Chico students and incoming credential candidates are eligible for MSTI Scholarships. You are required to be in an academic program with the goal of becoming a math or science teacher.

Requires you complete the tests or courses needed, and to complete an application for CTC authorization. This must be done through the CSU, Chico School of Education to be valid for our program funds.

Undergraduates interested in being a math or science teacher should contact the person in their major department for pre-service teacher advising. If you are uncertain who to contact, look here to find the advisor for your undergraduate subject matter preparation program
