Office of the President

December 7, 2017 – Southern California wildfires

To: Campus Community

From: President Gayle E. Hutchinson

As our state once again faces an outbreak of devastating wildfires, our hearts are with those in Southern California who are among the hundreds of thousands of people who have been evacuated and are facing the stress and uncertainty of ongoing fire threats.

Our sister campuses in Northridge, Channel Islands, and San Bernardino have been affected and experienced closures. We have reached out to our colleagues to offer support, however possible.

Please keep our friends and colleagues in your thoughts as they continue dealing with this incredibly difficult situation. We also know that many of our students and employees have family and friends affected by the fires and wish to extend our deepest sympathies and support. Any students who need support can access the Campus Assessment Response and Education (CARE) Team, which is dedicated to promoting the safety and wellness of our campus community, by contacting Robert Morton at 530-898-6897. Additionally, the Counseling and Wellness Center in Student Services Center 430 is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. For more information, call 898-6345 or go to www.csuchico.edu/counseling.

We hope you and all your loved ones stay safe, and that you know you are in our thoughts.
