STEM Majors

At Chico State, most major programs in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) are found in the College of Engineering, Computer Science & Construction Management (ECC) or College of Natural Sciences (NS). The College of Agriculture (AG) and some of our Graduate Programs make up the remainder.

STEM majors are math-intensive and often require multiple semesters and/or specific course sequences to progress in the program. Your math placement level and/or ALEKS PPL assessment guides the courses to enroll in for your major.

STEM: ALEKS PPL
If you are pursuing a STEM program, you should review ALEKS PPL to determine if you need to complete the three-step assessment process. If your placement level is GE B4 Ready with Support, you are strongly encouraged to practice and prepare with ALEKS PPL for first year major courses.
