As the COVID-19 situation continues to evolve, we will provide necessary updates on changes that may affect University employees. In the last week, there have been developments related to travel, events, and recruitments.

Travel

Per direction from the Chancellor’s Office, systemwide meetings and conferences will move to a virtual mode through June 30, 2021. Additionally, all non-essential international and domestic travel will be eliminated through June 30, 2021. President Hutchinson will have the authority to approve exceptions for travel when there are compelling reasons that support the academic, co-curricular, or operational mission of the campus. Exceptions will be granted on a limited basis. More details can be found on the travel website.

Events

Any in-person gatherings are an exception to current policy mandating virtual services and will be allowed on a very limited basis. At this time, only small and medium on-campus gatherings of up to 50 people may be considered and must follow the exception approval process. For more details, please email fres@csuchico.edu. Large on-campus events and gatherings of more than 50 people in one place at one time are restricted until Butte County has moved into later stages of reopening.

All previously scheduled campus events for the fall remain canceled, postponed, or moved to online delivery. Athletic competitions remain suspended for fall. The vast majority of University athletics, recreational sports, and intramural and sport club programs will remain virtual.

Recruitments

Until further notice, all recruitments for essential positions approved by President Hutchinson to proceed during the hiring chill will be temporary and open to all applicants. All non-essential recruitments remain suspended. Questions about current vacancies should be directed to Employment Services or the Office of Academic Personnel as appropriate.

Any questions about these changes should be sent to eoc@csuchico.edu. Our COVID-19 News & Info website(opens in new window) also continues to be updated with any developments and changes.
