Recurring Donation

Set it and forget it! Setting up a recurring monthly or yearly credit card donation helps provide sustaining support for the program your choice and ensures they can count on you. This level of regular support allows programs to plan ahead and truly maximize your impact on student success.

Simply select, “I would like to make this a recurring gift” in Step 3 of the giving form and select your frequency (e.g. monthly, quarterly, or yearly).

If you would like to make changes to an existing recurring gift, contact Gift Services at 530-898-4488 or giftservices@csuchico.edu.

Donate Cryptocurrency

Chico State accepts gifts in more than 70 cryptocurrencies, including popular ones like Bitcoin (BTC), Ether (ETH), Litecoin (LTC), etc. The IRS classifies cryptocurrencies as property, so cryptocurrency donations to 501(c)3 organizations like our University Foundation receive the same tax treatment as stocks. Donating cryptocurrency is a non-taxable event, meaning you do not owe capital gains tax on the appreciated amount and can deduct it on your taxes.

Make an IRA Direct Disbursement

If you are over the age of 70 ½ and have an Individual Retirement Account (IRA), then a gift from your account may provide the most significant tax savings of any charitable contribution. While you are eligible to make this gift starting at 70 ½, when you turn 72 you must take a Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) from your IRA, and a donation to Chico State can qualify as part of the required minimum.

To make a gift of this type please contact giftservices@csuchico.edu or 530-898-4488. They can also answer any questions you might have.

Direct your fund manager to make the disbursement payable to the University Foundation and put the designation or program name in the memo line (if known) and mail to:

Donate Appreciated Assets

By giving appreciated stock that you’ve held for more than a year, you receive a double tax benefit. You avoid capital gains tax on the appreciation that would be due upon sale and you can receive a charitable income tax deduction for the full value of the stock.

We often receive gifts of securities without any donor-identifying information. If you plan to transfer securities, please contact gift services at giftservices@csuchico.edu or 530-898-4488.
