RAD Lab Manager

Dr. Aquanette Burt, currently serving as RAD Lab Manager, possesses a background in designing, optimizing, and implementing novel assays, showcasing a steadfast commitment to advancing scientific research. She earned her Ph.D. in Biochemical Engineering from Rutgers University, specializing in nerve cell growth cone motility and stochastic modeling.

Commencing her career at Quantum Dot Corporation, Dr. Burt developed protocols for utilizing quantum dot nanocrystals as alternatives to traditional fluorophores in various biological applications. Her expertise spans cell and tissue staining, live-cell imaging, protein conjugation, and protein quantification. Expanding her repertoire in assay development, she later served as the R&D Manager at Nima Labs. There, her team successfully created a lateral flow assay for peanut allergen detection in food samples, seamlessly integrating food processing and allergen detection.

With experience in reagent development, optimization, and the establishment of operating procedures, Dr. Burt has contributed significantly to standardizing product development and instituting design control. Even during her undergraduate years at MIT, she exhibited a profound interest in living systems, a passion that continues to drive her in her current role.

Looking ahead, Dr. Burt is eager to oversee the day-to-day operations of the lab, collaborate with students and researchers, delve further into regenerative agriculture, and advance sustainable practices and innovation in this field.
