Hope Coulter
Staff Research Associate (SRA)
Hope grew up in Orangevale, California and developed a passion for gardening at an early age, working alongside her dad in his annual summer vegetable garden. She attended American River Community College where she studied Political Science, but also took several classes "just for fun" in horticulture, soils, and ecology. Hope also worked as a student assistant in the horticulture department, where she got the chance to apply everything she was learning in her classes. During this time Hope discovered a passion for agricultural science, with special interest in agroecology and integrated pest management. Hope's interest in agriculture was nurtured by the professors and staff at ARC who encouraged her to pursue a career in agriculture.
In 2019 Hope transferred to Chico State to earn a B.S. in Plant and Soil Science. While at Chico State Hope participated in undergraduate research studying cover crops under Dr. Hossein Zakeri and Walnut Husk Flies under Dr. Betsy Boyd. She also interned at the university's greenhouses and worked on a small local farm growing microgreens and mixed vegetables. After graduating in May 2022, Hope worked as an outdoor educator developing and teaching gardening classes at local elementary and high schools and leading field trips in Bidwell Park, before joining the team at the Center for Regenerative Agriculture as a Staff Research Associate.
Outside of work Hope enjoys reading, gardening, baking, sewing, and wandering around Bidwell Park looking for insects and other critters.
