Center for Regenerative Agriculture and Resilient Systems

Tyler Burke

Graduate Student
Tyler Burke is originally from Florida but spent most of his schooling years in Alaska. While Tyler doesn't come from an agricultural background, he does have unique experiences ranging from commercial fishing to his service in the United States Army. Tyler also graduated from Golden Gate University with a Bachelor of Arts in Business Management. He believes his professional experience and formal education has provided him with the tools to look at agriculture and soil as a functional and cohesive organization. Tyler has many fond memories of harvesting wild berries in Alaska as a child, and the idea of having access to food without a grocery store has always interested him. Upon moving to California in 2020 he became more invested in gardening and decided that after completing his bachelor's it was time to try to obtain a formal education in agriculture. He began pursuing an undergraduate degree in Plant and Soil Science at California State University, Chico. He networked with professors and found himself with an opportunity to work with the Center for Regenerative Agriculture and Resilient Systems (CRARS) on the Soil Carbon Accrual Project (SCAP.)
