Birdhouse Building Workshop

Welcome native songbirds into your landscape or home garden! This is a family-friendly workshop on the building of birdhouses for attracting and supporting two of our favorite songbirds: Western Bluebirds and common House Wrens. Workshop will include museum entry, educational presentations on the life cycles and nesting patterns of these birds as well as the choosing and building of 1 birdhouse design.  

When:  Sunday, March 19, 2017 from 1:00pm to 3:00pm

Who:  All ages. Participants under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Participants ages 16-18 may participate individually with the signed consent of parent/legal guardian. A single “participant” may include 1 adult & 1 child building 1 birdhouse together. 

Cost per birdhouse:  $15 for Gateway members, $25 for non-members

Hour of Code™: Beyond the Hour Workshop

This is a 1.5 hour hands-on introduction to software development, designed to demystify code and show that learning the basics is easy! Participants will explore how to write code through a series of fun and creative challenges while discovering how coding is a tool that is used in real-world science applications for the creation of simulations and modeling.

This workshop is independently paced and all skill levels are welcome.

When:  Friday, April 14, 2017 from 3:30pm to 5:00pm

Who:  5th through 8th graders

Cost:  $25 for Gateway members, $40 for non-members
